Ask what the material is.
Request identification as jadeite, nephrite or another material, and ask what is documented.
Understand treatment.
Dyeing, bleaching, polymer impregnation and surface treatments can affect appearance and care.
Look at workmanship.
For a carving, view it from every side. Notice detail, finish, repairs, chips and how the form uses the stone.
Check fit or display.
Bangle inner diameter matters. For an object, check dimensions, weight, condition and whether a stand is included.
